I wish to congratulate you on so succinctly and perceptively deconstructing how Mary Karr uses the present and past tense for dramatic effect. I have read and re-read all of Karr’s books since 2010, and I recall wondering about her use of tense, and until now, I don’t think I have found such a well-written explanation. Thank you!
